I’m a poet and essayist, and much of my work is centered around grief and healing after the loss of my son.
I’m honored to have won the 2021 Press 53 Award for Poetry for my book Smile or Else. I’m also the author of Vanilla Milk: a memoir told in poems (Silver Birch Press, 2014), which was a finalist for the 2016 Independent Book Awards and received an honorable mention in the 2014 Eric Hoffer Awards.
My poetry has been published in journals such as Rattle, Raleigh Review, Spoon River, New Ohio Review, Salamander, and more. One of my poems, “Apology,” won first place in the Smartish Pace Beullah Rose Poetry Prize.
In addition to poetry, I write essays, which have appeared in The Rumpus, Tahoma Literary Review, Mutha Magazine, HerStry, Literary Mama, Modern Loss, and The Good Men Project.
